No fine print. Here is exactly what Mary keeps and what she doesn't.
What Mary keeps
Your phone number, so she knows it's you.
The purchases you text her: the amount, the store, and a category.
When you send a photo of a receipt, Mary reads the details and then discards the photo. She only keeps the amount, store, and category, never the image.
What's encrypted
Your phone number, the store names, and the text of your messages are encrypted while stored, so they can't be read if data were ever exposed. The dollar amounts and categories are kept in plain form so Mary can add up your totals.
Who helps deliver and read your texts
Twilio carries the text messages between you and Mary.
Anthropic (Claude) reads your message so Mary can understand it.
Because this works over regular text messages, the messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Like any SMS, your phone carrier and the services above can see the contents. Please don't text anything you wouldn't want them to see.
What Mary never does
She never connects to your bank or credit cards.
She never sells your information or shows you ads.
She only ever talks about what you've shared with her, never your whole financial picture.
You're always in control
Text "delete all my data" and everything is erased.
Text "export my data" to get a copy of what she's recorded.
Reply STOP anytime and Mary will stop messaging you.
